Premium Sites
Our premium sites include websites, encyclopaedias, research databases and e-journals that Christchurch City Libraries subscribes to, so that you don’t have to. Because we subscribe, they’re free of charge to library cardholders.
Most sites can be accessed over the internet by entering your card number and PIN but a few can only be accessed from within our libraries.

If you’d like some ideas to help you explore our premium sites, try the following:
- Download audiobooks with OverDrive and listen to them on your iPod (or other MP3 player)
- Read today’s NZ and world newspapers, cover-to-cover, using PressDisplay
- Listen to thousands of classical, jazz and world music tracks online with NAXOS Music Library or Alexander Street Press Music Online
- Search Encyclopaedia Britannica and other online reference sources
- Trace your family history with Ancestry.com (in libraries only)
- Browse the world’s most trusted reference collection in Oxford Reference Online
- Read thousands of magazines & journals online at EbscoHost
