Made up your mind yet?

Have you decided who you're voting for in the NZ general election on Saturday 8 November? Maybe you're still deciding, or you're one of the 29,000 Cantabrians who haven't yet enrolled to vote? According to Selwyn and Wigram registrar of electors, Anthony Patterson, “people need to enrol today to make sure they can have their say about who runs the country." If that's you, "time is short" he says.

If you're still trying to decide who to vote for, or want to know more about the election process, Christchurch City Libraries has lots of useful resources and recommended websites to help you. Our election guide is a great starting point.

The library also knows its politics, so if you're looking to improve your knowledge of all things political, we have some great resources to use, both online and on our shelves. Check them out below.

Already over all that talk of parties and polls, consistency or change? Then turn to the beans for a less serious view of the election. localeye suggests you track the mood of the nation with the Muffin Break Bean Poll. You can also take part and cast your bean vote, right up to the election.

If you haven't already enrolled to vote, you have until this Wednesday, 8 October, to do so. After that, the only option open to you will be to register to cast a special declaration vote on election day, which will take you about five times longer than a normal vote. See the Elections NZ website for details.

Oh, and if you can't get enough of elections, there's apparently one happening in the US soon - and yes, we've got that one covered too!
