Events for families

Join us at Shirley Library on Sunday 9 October for a special Storytime for Dads to celebrate Parenting Week. Bring your children along and enjoy stories, rhymes and songs, especially aimed at dads. Children will also be able to decorate a special certificate for their super Dad.

Every week we have Baby Times and Story Times for parents and children to enjoy.

Books for babies

Each year we deliver about 5,000 Books for Babies packs to parents and babies through hospitals, midwives and the Homebirth Association.

Ready for Reading

When a child turns four they can come into any Christchurch City Library and pick up a Ready for Reading pack

Pre-school and Families outreach services

Christchurch City Libraries has an experienced team of children’s librarians who visit community groups and preschools to promote our wide range of services and resources.
