Elizabeth Knox

Elizabeth Knox is one of sixty authors attending The Press Christchurch Writers Festival from 4 to 7 September 2008.
It isn't hard to get the feeling that life inside Elizabeth Knox’s head must be pretty interesting. The Knox sisters were close, and always played imaginary games. By the time Elizabeth was eleven, the games had become one game, an ongoing saga set in another world - a game she shared with her sisters and several friends. Having completed the Dreamhunter duet, set in an alternate universe, it's possible to get a sense of some of the fantasy worlds that she might have inhabited with her sisters.
Elizabeth Knox is the author of eight novels for adults including The vintners luck which is soon to come out on film, directed by Niki Caro of Whale Rider fame. Knox has also won several personal awards and fellowships, including being an inaugural recipient of a Arts Foundation Laureate Award in 2000, and in 2002 was made an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit (ONZM).
Elizabeth was born in 1959. She studied at Victoria University of Wellington and attended Bill Manhire's Creative Writing course. She now lives in Wellington with her husband and son.
