Psychiatrist and researcher Norman Doidge, M.D., travelled around the United States to meet the brilliant scientists championing neuroplasticity, and the people whose lives they’ve transformed - people whose mental limitations or brain damage were previously seen as unalterable, and whose conditions had long been dismissed as hopeless.  His book The brain that changes itself has become a surprise hit and is available in the library.

You don't have to be a brain surgeon to read this book or listen to Dr Doidge - just someone with a curious mind. He has a fluent and unassuming style, and is able to explain difficult concepts without talking down to his readers or listeners.
