He Manawa o Te Reo - the Heart of the Language

Salutations 2002

Tēnā kōtou katoa,
I runga i te kaupapa ake
o te wā tonu nei,
Ko tērā hoki anō,
Ko te Reo o te Rangi, o te Whenua
o te Ira Tāngata i wenei motu
o te Iwi Māori i konei.
He kupu whakataki,
he kupu maioha wēnei
ki ngā tāngata e kawea mai
E pikau mai nei tēnei taonga.
Hou ake ki ngā Tāngata,
Ki ngā Reo-ā-iwi,
Ki ngā maunga, ki ngā awa,
o ngā moutere nei.
Kia tomo mai ki roto, ā, kia tau.
Nō reira, Nau mai, Haere mai anō.

Salutations to all,
In regard to the main theme
at this particular time
And that would be,
The language of the Heavens and Earth
Of Humankind and the
Indigenous people of this land.
This is a small introduction,
As well as an affectionate greeting
to everyone that carries the
important treasure of the moment.
Greetings go to other people,
To other languages,
To mountains and rivers
of these islands.
To enter and then stay awhile
Therefore, Welcome, Greetings again.
