Many of us make resolutions and set new goals, particularly at New Year. Setting a realistic goal and making it happen isn’t always easy, but there are plenty of useful resources to help you choose your goals and put them into action.

All life coaches and advisers agree that the most important elements of setting yourself a new goal are:

  • choosing a very specific goal the more vague the goal, the less chance you’ll have of success
  • making sure your goal is realistic are you sure that your goal is actually achievable?
  • planning how you’re going to achieve your goal what steps are you going to take to reach your goal, and when?
  • keeping track of your progress essential if you’re going to stay the course and reach your goal
