A successful New Zealand artist, Miss M.O. Stoddart

"Miss Stoddart recently received information from the Director of the Salon de la Societe des Artists Francais stating that the two pictures sent by her to Paris have been accepted for exhibition in the Salon". Margaret Olrog Stoddart (1865-1934) was born in Canterbury and studied at the Christchurch School of Art. After studying overseas, she returned to New Zealand about 1907 and taught at the Canterbury College School of Art. She is best known for her watercolours of flowers and riverbeds
