Irene van Dyk
- Born 21 June 1972 in Vereeniging, South Africa.
- Captained the South African national netball team and represented them 72 times.
- Moved to New Zealand in 2000 and joined the Silver Ferns.
- Became a citizen of New Zealand in 2005.
- Won the Halberg Award as the New Zealand Sportswoman of the Year in 2003 and was nominated again in 2005.
- Appointed a member of the New Zealand Order of Merit for her services to netball in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List 2009.
- Renowned as the world’s best goal shooter.
- Achieved her 100th Test Match on 23 September 2009 in the second Test Match against the Australian Diamonds.
- Lives in Wellington but played for the Waikato Magic in the National Bank Cup.
- Is married to cricket coach, Christie, and the couple has one daughter, Bianca.
