Kate Greenaway Medal
Christchurch City Libraries lists literary prize winners and links to catalogue searches, but we may not hold copies of all titles mentioned.
The Kate Greenaway Medal was established in 1956. It is presented annually by the Youth Libraries Group of the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals for the most distinguished work in the illustration of children’s books published in the United Kingdom.
See the Kate Greenaway Medal homepage for more information.
2007 was the 50th anniversary of the Greenaway (and the 70th of the Carnegie). There was a anniversary Top Ten online poll competition to name the Carnegie and Greenaway Award winners of all time. Shirley Hughes won the Greenaway of Greenaways for Dogger. Dogger polled 26% of the votes, just beating off competition from Janet and Allan Ahlberg’s Each Peach Pear Plum, which polled 25%.
