New Zealand Post Writers and Readers Week 2008
Christchurch City Libraries connects you with the New Zealand Post Writers and Readers Week 2008. Writers and Readers Week is part of the New Zealand International Arts Festival in Wellington and runs from the 11 to 16 March.
Among the international writers appearing at the festival are David Mitchell (Cloud Atlas and Black Swan Green), cartoonist Garry Trudeau (of Doonesbury fame), James Meek (celebrated foreign correspondent and novelist), 1998 Booker Prize winner Ian McEwan (UK), author of Atonement and On Chesil Beach among many others, poets Christian Bök (Canada) and Paul Muldoon (Ireland), celebrated Samoan writer Sia Figiel, author of Where We Once Belonged, and Mayra Montero (Cuba) author of the gangster classic, Dancing to "Almendra", set in glamorous 1950s Cuba.
