Christchurch City Libraries connects you with the Auckland Writers and Readers Festival 2010.

Held from May 12 to 16 at the Aotea Cente, The Edge, in Auckland, the festival website says the programme is top international and local writers talking about subjects as diverse as art, war, religion, the novel, and rugby.

Our coverage

A team of four library staff — Marion Ogier, Roberta Smith, Bronwyn Smith and Richard Liddicoat — will cover the festival on the library blog. There will be an audio wrap-up of each day's activities and plenty of opportunity for you to join the conversation and ask questions about any aspect of the festival.

International authors

Eighteen international authors will appear at the festival, including Lionel Shriver, Colm Toibin, Sarah Thornton, Rick Gekoski, Yiyun Li, Thomas Keneally, Charlie Higson and more. For full programme details visit the festival website.

Canterbury and New Zealand writers

Canterbury writers Jeffrey Paparoa Holman, Bernadette Hall, Ben Brown and Rachael King will appear at the festival. Other New Zealand writers taking part include C. K. Stead, Emily Perkins, Paula Morris, Elizabeth Smither and Chris Laidlaw.
