Vanessa Collingridge searching in a university library for books on her lifelong hero, Captain Cook, discovered, in a dusty card index, the name of a distant cousin, George Collingridge, an amateur cartographer living a century after Cook. So began a new journey of discovery as she reassessed Cook’s contribution and tested the theories of her ancestor.
