Kia ora. Waitangi Day is on Saturday 6 February. This public holiday commemorates the signing of our founding document - the Treaty of Waitangi. Libraries are closed on Saturday, but some are open Monday 8 February.

News about your libraries

Upper Riccarton Library re-opened this week after being closed for its repairs.

Lyttelton Library is opening at Trinity Hall in the Lyttelton Recreation Centre on Monday 15 February, while the London Street Library has its repairs.

The concept design for the new Bishopdale Library and Community Centre has been completed. Construction is expected to begin mid-2016.

The design of the new Sumner Library, Community Facility and Museum has been revealed. Construction is due to begin in mid-2016 and it is expected to open in 2017.
