Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS)
SARS is a respiratory disease which caused a near pandemic between November 2002 and July 2003. The World Health Organisation (WHO) recorded 8,096 known infected cases and 774 deaths worldwide. SARS is caused by the SARS coronavirus (SARS-C0V) and is considered to have the potential to return.
