Author Biography
Lachy Paterson is an associate professor in Te Tumu School of Maori, Pacific and Indigenous Studies at the University of Otago, where he teaches Maori language and Maori history. Extensively utilising Maori-language textual materials, he has published widely on Maori history of the colonial period, including a monograph on Maori-language newspapers, Colonial Discourses: Niupepa Maori, 1855a"1863 (Otago University Press, 2006).
