James Tait Black Memorial Prize

The James Tait Black Memorial Prizes were founded in memory of a partner in the publishing house of A. & C. Black Ltd., and are among  the oldest and most prestigious book awards in Britain. They have been awarded since 1919. The two prizes, each of £10,000, are awarded annually.

In accordance with the wishes of the founder, eligible works of fiction and biographies are those written in English, originating with a British publisher, and first published in Britain in the 12 month period prior to the submission date (30 September).
