Maori carvingJune 2008: Matariki Programmes for Schools

These times are available to schools to come into South Learning Centre and have a class session on Matariki. Our staff are available to outline and personalise the plan for your class. Choose from:

Webquest (for students Year 1 to Year 8). Use our interactive websites to learn about Matariki. Enjoy our computer lab for up to 30 students as you share this learning opportunity with your class, or

Design a Matariki sticker (for students Year 5 and above). Enjoy a brief webquest introduction and then design a sticker for Matariki using Publisher. Creating a page of sticker designs based on this theme which will be looked at for next years promotions.

Maori cloak4 June 2008: Utilising Library resources for effective Whakapapa research

Christchurch City Libraries Māori Reference Librarian Moata Tamaira will provide an interactive session to showcase library resources as tools for effective whakapapa research. After presentation computer access is available for individuals to pursue self-directed research if desired.
