Christchurch City Libraries is asking Banks Peninsula residents what they want from their library services.
When Christchurch City Libraries took over running of the four Banks Peninsula libraries (Little River, Akaroa, Diamond Harbour and Lyttelton) at the time Christchurch City and Banks Peninsula councils amalgamated, it agreed to maintain existing service levels until 2011.
“We have already expanded the range of services and resources available to Banks Peninsula residents, and now need to consider how the needs of this community may influence future development of library services,”
says Community Libraries Manager, Rosemary Nicholls
“The first step of that planning process is to ask Banks Peninsula residents what would make the libraries work really well for them.”
A leaflet about the consultation has been sent to all Banks Peninsula residents and invites them to comment on existing services that they particularly value, what would affect their decision to make greater use of libraries and how they see libraries might work closely with other services in the community. Anyone who did not receive a leaflet, or who does not live in Banks Peninsula can access a copy of the consultation leaflet from the Council’s website at www.ccc.govt.nz/haveyoursay.
The consultation is open until Wednesday 15 July 2009.
