        Parenting Week is an initiative of the Children's and Youth Advocacy office of the Christchurch City Council.
16 August
- Baby Time
- Songs and rhymes for babies and parents. 
 10.30am-11.00am, Shirley Library.
 Suitable for parents and children aged 0-2 years.
- Reading Readiness
-  Pre-reading activities, crafts, games and ideas to help your child learn to read. 
 1.30pm-2.30pm, Centre for the Child, Central Library.
- Family Games Night
-  X boxes and Playstations will be available for bookings by parents to play with their children.
 5.00pm-7.00pm. South Christchurch Library.
 Bookings are essential and are for 30-minute sessions.
- Storytelling
-  Storytelling with Liz Weir. 
 10.00am-10.30am, Bishopdale Library.
 Suitable for preschoolers aged 2-5 years and parents.
 Bookings are essential.
17 August
- Hooked on Reading
-  Join Liz Weir, storyteller and teacher, for this session on how to help your child become a life-long reader. Preparing your child for reading can be a fun, fulfilling experience for both child and parents and best of all it isn’t difficult to do.
 10.00am-11.00am, New Brighton Library.
 This is an event for adults only. Bookings essential.
18 August
- Baby Yoga
-  Exercises for fun and learning with Carey Sumner. 
 10.00am-10.30am, Papanui Library.
 Suitable for babies 6-12 mths with their caregiver. Please bring a blanket.
- Music and Movement
-  Parents can enjoy music and movement with their preschoolers 2-5 years old.
 2.00pm-2.30pm, Redwood Library.
 Children need to be accompanied by an adult.
- Family Games Night
-  X boxes and Playstations will be available for bookings by parents to play with their children.
 5.00pm-7.00pm. South Christchurch Library.
 Bookings are essential and are for 30-minute sessions.
- Read to your Bunny
-  The joys of sharing stories together, with guest speaker Wendy MacKay. 
 10.30am-11.30am, Halswell Library.
 Suitable for parents but children are welcome with their parents.
 Bookings recommended.

- Family Bedtime Stories
-  Interactive story session. Wear PJs if you want and bring your bed pal. 
 6.00 - 6.30 pm, South Christchurch Library. The Library Café will be open with special deals on fluffies and cookies for the kids until 7.00pm.
 Suitable for children aged 4-10 years and their parents.
- Teddy Bear’s Picnic Preschoolers Storytime
-  Parents bring along your preschooler and their favourite teddy and enjoy stories, songs and rhymes. 
 11.00am-11.30am, Papanui Library.
- Japanese Storytime
-  Stories from Japan.
 10.30am-11.15am, New Brighton Library.
 Suitable for adults and children aged 3-5 years. Bookings essential.
- Musical Preschool
-  Maree Hawtin-Morrow will be taking a musical preschool session.

- Internet Safety
-  Practice tips and guidance on how to keep your children safe in the wide world of the Internet.

 Suitable for all ages but the information is aimed at parents.
