Web Survey 2007
We received over 1000 responses to our library website survey which ran during September. The survey was designed to capture whether the site gives users what they want, how they’re currently using the site, what they like about it, and what could be improved.
Everyone who completed the survey had the chance to enter a draw to win one of three iPod Shuffles. The three lucky winners, drawn by Libraries and Information Manager, Carolyn Robertson, on Wednesday 3 October, were:
- David Silvester
- Tessa Bowler
- Brent Smith
Winners have been contacted to arrange collection/distribution of their prizes.
With such a strong completion rate, the survey responses will be really useful as Christchurch City Librariesplans the ongoing development of the library website. We’re just starting to process the survey returns, but a few random customer results are:
- 60.7% of respondents describe the library website as quite or very important to their daily lives
- 97.4% rated the site as excellent (32.3%), very good (49.8%) or satisfactory (15.3%)
- Almost 1 in 5 (18%) of customer respondents never or rarely visit a library, just the website
- Most respondents, 48%, use the site mainly for recreation or leisure
- 92% would like or possibly like to watch, listen or download audio and/or video on the site
- 83.5% would like or possibly like to be able to read and borrow e-books on the library website
Thanks to all those who took the time to complete the survey and give us feedback. If you missed the survey but would still like to share your thoughts about the site with us, please use our customer comment form.
