The very experienced creative partnership of author Ben Brown and illustrator Helen Taylor has created numerous delightful picture books which tell stories, impart information and raise our awareness of New Zealand nature. Their books demonstrate that the distinction between non-fiction and fiction is less defined than some may think, with fiction and fact merging to provide fun stories, told via lyrical text and vibrant illustrations.
In 2005 their book “Fifty-five Feathers” was shortlisted for the Russell Clark Award, and the te reo edition “Ngā raukura rima tekau mā rima” was shortlisted for the Te Kura Pounamu Award. In 2006 they won the 2006 New Zealand Post Picture Book Award for “A Booming in the Night”.
