Library Week

In February 2011 the Library and Information Association of New Zealand Aotearoa decided to discontinue Library Week.

Usually held in August, Library Week celebrated everything that’s great about our libraries up and down the country. Library Week was co-ordinated by the Library and Information Association of New Zealand Aotearoa (LIANZA).

Christchurch City Libraries events

coverChristchurch City Libraries celebrated Library Week each year with library displays and promotions, and by participating in 'NZ’s Biggest Storytime' — where a single children’s book is read simultaneously across the country.

NZ’s Largest Storytime reading

At 10:30am on Wednesday 18 August children, librarians, parents and teachers will gather at Parklands Library and New Brighton Library to read Mr Muggs the library cat by New Zealand author Dave Gunson.

Parents, bring your children and their friends along to share a story during Library Week and find out who the special guest storyteller at your library is!
