The New Brighton Library will be closed for refurbishment on Monday 19 April and will reopen on Monday 10 May 2010.
The refurbishment, which is part of a scheduled upgrade cycle for Christchurch City Libraries, is the first make-over for the New Brighton Library since it opened 10 years ago.
During the two week closure, New Brighton Library customers will have access to the network of other Christchurch City Libraries. The library has already starting to issue books with delayed return date in anticipation of the closure.
- Linwood Library will be receiving all of the holds for New Brighton Library customers to pick up during the closure
- Items returned through the after-hours facility at New Brighton will be processed during the closure and cleared from customers' cards
Carolyn Robertson, Libraries and Information Unit Manager for Christchurch City Libraries says: “The new look will incorporate changes to the shelving and computer layout to improve customers’ access to the library collections and services.”
Other changes include the facility for self pick-up of holds for children and youth and the relocation of the Parklands Learning Centre to New Brighton.
Christchurch City Libraries apologises for any inconvenience caused by the two week closure.
