It’s a chance for book lovers to stock up their library with the annual Christchurch City Libraries book sale which starts this Friday at 9am at the Pioneer Recreation & Sport Centre.
The two-day book sale has over 40,000 titles, including DVDs and CDs, most of which are priced at around $3. Some 1600 premium art and craft and home and gardening books are offered at slightly higher prices.
The sale stock this year also features over 1400 selected New Zealand books at marked prices and 15,000 children’s books priced at 50 cents or a dollar.
The annual sale offers used books, tapes, DVDs and CDs, children’s books, reference books, novels, and books on topics ranging from travel, war, history, science and nature which have been withdrawn from circulation from the 20 libraries. All proceeds from the sale go towards buying new books for the library.
The Landscape Art Group will be exhibiting and offering works by local artists for sale.
Last year over 6000 book lovers took advantage of the sale, lining up early for the bargains.
