Libraries computer upgrade
9 February 2011
What’s available
An upgrade to Christchurch City Libraries’ computer system means online library services will be unavailable for one day next week.
Online services available at libraries and from home computers, including the library catalogue, CINCH, book hold options, online databases, access to fine information and self issue machines in Christchurch City Libraries will all be unavailable from 9pm Monday 14 February until the libraries open at 9am on Wednesday 16 February.
Regular users of our online services will appreciate the need for the upgrade to a new server, as the existing server has been struggling to keep up and has been very slow over the busy summer holiday period
, says Libraries and Information Manager Carolyn Robertson.
We’ve chosen to do the work on a Tuesday (the quietest day of the week for libraries) and delayed the upgrade until the school holidays were over. We’ll still be open, issuing books and processing returns at our libraries; and the libraries free internet service will still be available on library computers. Other than that, next Tuesday may be a good time to stay home from the library. Normal service will resume on Wednesday.
