Riding the surf at New Brighton beach
Riding the surf at New Brighton beach
[1939]
About 1910 the New Brighton Borough Council initiated a system where swimmers were required to wear shapeless neck to knee bathing costumes designed to conceal the attractive features of the body. The clothing worn by the three people in 1939 is basically the same as that introduced a generation earlier.
