Sumner beach, near Cave Rock.
[ca. 1910]
On the left is Beacon Rock. A beacon was placed on this in 1864 after the wreck of the Augustus was wrecked here. The wooden slipway used by the Sumner lifeboat, Rescue, can be seen. The boat was housed in a corrugated iron boatshed built on part of Cave Rock. (Information supplied by the Sumner-Redcliffs Historical Society)
