Maids' quarters and Nurses' Home, Christchurch Hospital, Oxford Terrace, Christchurch

Designed by Joseph Clarkson Maddison (1850-1923) and built in brick with a slate roof, this building on the right of the photograph opened in 1895, originally accommodating 36 nurses and a matron. It was enlarged in 1907 by means of a small wing shown on its left, towards Riccarton Avenue. A building which flanked the junction of Oxford Terrace and Riccarton Avenue was built in 1910 and opened in 1911. On the left is the main entrance of the hospital and the administration offices
