The Christchurch City Council's float in the One Hundred Years of Progress parade
The Christchurch City Council's float in the One Hundred Years of Progress parade
[18 Dec. 1950]
This float bore the message: City of Christchurch - founded in faith, rich in fulfilment, strong in hope. It was an outsize birthday cake lit with 100 candles. Half-way along Worcester Street the traces on the team of four white horses pulling the float broke and it was withdrawn - the only casualty of the day.
