The first house in Rangiora
The first house in Rangiora
[1855]
Survey labourers built this house about 1850 for surveyor Charles Obins Torlesse (1825-1866). This sketch by W J W Hamilton (1825-1883) shows a plain building with vertical planking. It had an attic but no dormer windows or verandah.
