[ca. 1920]
The Café, later the Esplanade Hotel, is the large building. On its right is a band rotunda which was moved to this site in 1913 and demolished in the 1950s. The Joyland Theatre (built 1916), which later became Nelme's auction rooms, appears on the right-hand side of the photograph. It was on Beresford Street behind the Café.
