The New Brighton Surf-Bathing and Life-Saving Club's new pavilion

"This handsome wooden building, which has been designed by Messrs Clarkson and Ballantyne, and will be officially opened on Labour Day, October 27th, consists of two storeys, the lower, the general club-room, being 40ft x 16ft. It is fitted with dressing and class-rooms, reel stores etc. The upper storey contains a large committee room and other rooms that can be utilised as dressing-rooms. In the front of the committee-room is a glass-covered look-out, at which a member of the Club will be regularly stationed. In very fine weather the look-out verandah above the window will be utilised. Under the building are reel stores capable of carrying eight reels. Already the Club numbers 180 members and it is confidently expected this number will be considerably increased in the near future"
