The picture includes workmen’s cabins, stores, school and the Public Works Department’s offices, etc. The coach road leads from Cass to Bealey. The broad shingly bed of the Waimakariri River is seen beyond, and on the other side the hills with their tops bearing the first Autumn snow.
Description: On the route of the Midland Railway (Christchurch to Greymouth): from Cass, at present the terminus on the Christchurch side.
