Description: At the Ellesmere Show. The Ellesmere A. & P. Association held it's first show in conjunction with the Southbridge Horticultural and Rural Industries Society on Thursday 5th January 1871. From 1873 they had grounds of their own on the outskirts of Leeston. From that time the Annual Show was held on the third Thursday in October and was the first show in Canterbury each year. From 1947 the Show has been held on the second Saturday in October.
