Caption: The Tai Tapu Dairy factory. The pioneer of dairy factories in Canterbury. It was opened on July 19, 1888. During the second year of its operations its output of butter was 133, 496lb, and the total amount of milk received was 3,561,946lb. Last year the output of butter was 351,200lb. and the amount of milk received 8,416,368lb. At the commencement the company had eight shareholders, it now has over 200.
