"A unique interest attaches to this ceremony from the circumstances that the stone is the one that was laid as the foundation of the St Albans Methodist Church in 1868 by Mr Peacock, who then used the trowel and mallet seen in the picture, which after laying the stone with them, he handed to Mr W G Parsonson (the minister of the St Albans Circuit) to be retained by the trustees as a memento of the occasion "
