Removal of the large Oddfellows' Hall, Christchurch to Sydenham
Removal of the large Oddfellows' Hall, Christchurch to Sydenham
[1903]
"The removal of the Oddfellows' Hall from its old site in Lichfield Street, Christchurch, to a position in Sydenham was one of the largest undertakings of this class which have been known in the district. The distance the building was taken was about three-quarters of a mile and it was decided to use greased skids instead of the usual trollies, doubtless on account of the danger of breaking the telegraph wires under which the building had to pass "
