Hamish Campbell is one of sixty authors who attended The Press Christchurch Writers Festival from September 4th to 7th, 2008

Hamish Campbell is a geologist and paleontologist at Geological and Nuclear Science (GNS) in Wellington. He has a PhD in geology from Cambridge, and is the geologist and science communicator at the National Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa. He helped develop the popular Awesome Forces exhibition and the book that went with it.

His 2007 book In Search of Ancient New Zealand was co-written with natural history writer Gerard Hutching. They present an exciting new account of New Zealand's evolution - from 3-billion-year-old grains of sand found in present-day rocks, through the breakaway from Gondwanaland to the drowning and uplift of New Zealand.
