Simon Sebag Montefiore
Born in 1965, Simon Sebag Montefiore read History at Gonville & Caius College, Cambridge. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature, novelist, and television presenter. His historical expertise makes for novels informed with a rich sense of history - and as a novelist he brings to his biographies drama and storytelling vigour. He has focused on Russian themes to great effect, and has written on key figures like Stalin, Catherine the Great and Potemkin.
His books have garnered much critical acclaim and a swag of literary prizes as well as bestseller status. Storytelling is in his family, with wife Santa also a novelist.
He has recently completed a novel Sashenka. His next history book is Jerusalem: the Biography.
