Francis Spufford
Francis Spufford is one of sixty authors who attended The Press Christchurch Writers Festival from September 4th to 7th, 2008
Francis Spufford is a British writer with an eclectic collection of titles to his name. He has written on such varied topics as the Devil, the joy of lists, the British fascination with the polar regions, and technology and scientists and inventors. The child that books built is his memoir of his childhood fascination with reading.
He has won a number of prizes including the Somerset Maugham Award, the Sunday Time Young Writer of the Year Prize and the Writers’ Guild Award for Best Non-fiction Book of the Year.
At the festival he will talk with Bill Nagelkerke about his work.
