His Excellency the Governor, Lord Plunket (1864-1920) at Tuahiwi Pa, Kaiapoi

Lord and Lady Plunket and their party are shown with their Maori escort on a visit to Kaiapoi. They visited the site of the old Kaiapohia Pa and inspected a monument and were shown the remains of the walls and parts of the old stronghold. They later visited the Tuahiwi Pa and were shown ancient Maori carvings which had once been in the entrance and on the ceiling of the old runanga hall
