Lyttelton Casualty Ward, Norwich Quay, Lyttelton
[ca. 1900]
This was a gabled house like a private residence and was situated near the mouth of the tunnel, overlooking the railway. It opened in 1875 after a petition had been presented by the Mayor, councillors and residents to the Provincial Government. This petition had said that in a seaport town accidents occurred frequently and there was often a need for immediate medical care
