The Ngai Tahu land claim : rival committees' differences.

On the opening day of the Maori hui at Tuahiwi differences arose between rival committees, one claiming that all who can prove Ngai Tahu ancestry were entitled to claim, and the other that only those whose kamatuas [sic] were living within the boundaries of the land at the time of the sale were so entitled. The committee (see above) claiming to be the descendants of the latter is:-Back row - F. Barrett, H. Rupene, W. T. Pitama (chairman), H. Matu, W. D. Barrett, Tetau Korika, P. Tau, W. Weka. Front row – W. Taituha, E. Manihera, J. M. Piki (secretary), and W. Mihaka (secretary of claims).
