Dam built for the Riccarton Mill, forming the Mona Vale mill pond
[between 186- and 189-]
The mill was built in 1861 ready for the 1862 harvest near the site where Christchurch Girls' High School now stands. William Wood sold the mill in 1895 to Richard Allen who operated it under the name Riccarton Roller Mills, producing Snowball flour. Business ceased in 1958 and the mill was demolished in 1974.
