Looking west towards the Avon River, shown on the left are McKenzie & Willis (auctioneers and furniture warehouse), Hereford Court, Borthwick & Sons, Shades Hotel and Yorkshire House. The photograph was taken to show the angle-parking system in the street which the Christchurch City Council had trialled and decided at the time to continue
