The gathering took place in very fine weather, and there were over a thousand visitors present, while the different events drew thirty-nine entries. The work done by competitors was of a high order, and it was pleasing to see so many young men among them. (1) The officials : back row - Messrs R. W. Lochhead, C. Watson, J. Heinzman, J. W. (Morven) : First prize, Class A, double-furrow, cut-as-you-please; also winner of special prize for best feering, Class A. (9) L. Stace (Springston) : Second prize, Class C, double-furrow, Coulter cut, cast shares (district), (10) P. Hunter (Studholme) : Second prize in Class A, double-furrow, cut-as-you-please (open), and winner of special prizes for best finish on the ground (double or three-furrow) and best finish, Class A. (11) D. Griffiths (Prebbleton) : First prize in Class C, double-furrow, Coulter cut, cast shares (district); winner of the Rhodes Silver Cup and special prize for best finish in Class C. (12) G. Withers (Tai Tapu) : First prize, Class F, three-furrow, no cut, cast shares, not less than five horses (district), and special prizes for best feering, Class F; best finish.
