Caption: The Lake Coleridge Hydro - Electric System: a view of the Harper diversion. The draught of water to the powerhouse lowered the level of the lake and it was considered advisable to augment the inflow of water by diverting the Harper River into the lake. This has been very successfully accomplished and the lake is now higher than its normal level before the hydro-electric scheme came into operation. The dam is bags of shingle, wire netted in: the intake gates are supported by a wall of reinforced concrete. In flood time the intake gates can be closed against floating branches.
