Auckland Writers and Readers Festival 2011
Christchurch City Libraries connects you with the Auckland Writers and Readers Festival 2011, held from 11-15 May at the Aotea Centre, The Edge, in Auckland.
Christchurch has missed hosting its own writers festival, not once but twice. September 2010 and March 2011 events were cancelled due to earthquake damage in the city. The Auckland festival organisers are supporting the Christchurch festival, including generous assistance with library coverage.
It’s an opportunity to share in this festival of ideas and literature — New Zealand’s largest literary event.
This one’s for Christchurch
A special Christchurch focused-event will take place at the festival. Five Canterbury writers — Carl Nixon, Fiona Farrell, Joanna Preston, Tusiata Avia and Sarah Quigley — will reflect on their recent experiences and pay tribute to their city. Morrin Rout and Ruth Todd will chair the session. Read more about this event.
Our coverage
Festival coverage

There will be an audio wrap-up of each day’s activities, photos on our flickr stream, and plenty of opportunity for you to join the conversation and ask questions about any aspect of the festival.
