Photo Hunt

The Christchurch Photo hunt is on. Send in your photos and you could win a tablet or one of three e-readers. Submitted photographs will be copied and returned.

  • Entries must be received by Sunday 17 November 2013 at 5pm.
  • Winners will be announced on Friday 29 November 2013.

Bishopdale Library is open

Bishopdale Library

A temporary library in Bishopdale Mall is open while the original Bishopdale Library is repaired. The library is located in the former Westside Travel building, 17C Bishopdale Court. It has around 12,000 items, including adults’ and children’s fiction and non-fiction, large print books, talking books and DVDs. The library is open on weekdays from 9am-6pm and on Saturday from 10am-1pm.


Central Tuam is closing

Manchester Street

Central Library Tuam closes on Friday 1 November 2013 because it is situated on land designated for the Justice and Emergency Services Precinct.

Our new temporary Central Library Manchester will open late January 2014 on the corner of Manchester Street and Allen Street.


Te Whata Raki

Te Whata Raki

Come and discover Te Whata Raki. This online world contains traditional stories told through waiata, pictures, and sound. It is a beautiful interactive way to learn about our Māori heritage.

There is also a free iPad app available.


Cheetah

National Geographic Kids

New to the Source, National Geographic Kids allows you access to the digital archive of the trusted children’s magazine.

Aimed at 6 to 14-year-olds, it offers reputable, authoritative, and age-appropriate articles that cover adventures in science, nature, culture, archaeology, and space.


Freegal

Have you started using Freegal yet?

It offers over 7 million mp3 tracks from the Sony Music catalogue as well as over 12,000 videos from your favourite artists. It doesn't matter if you are into pop, country, jazz, classical or metal. It is here and it is FREE.
